North Dakota Canola Acres to Reach Record in 2021

The USDA National Ag Statistics Service issued its Annual Prospective Plantings Report on March 31 and it shows that North Dakota canola acres are expected to be 1.78 million acres this year. This is up 270,000 acres from last year’s planted acreage and a record high.

Producers intend to plant 2.12 million acres in the U.S. in 2021, up 290,000 acres or 16 percent from last year. Compared with last year, planted area is expected to increase in all the major canola-producing states, with records in North Dakota, Montana and Washington.
