The Northern Canola Growers Association held its 22nd Annual Canola Expo in Langdon, North Dakota on December 3rd.  Elaine Kub, author of Mastering the Markets, was the featured speaker for the event.

During the annual business meeting, Pat Murphy of Minot was re-elected to the board of directors.  Murphy is the President of the Northern Canola Growers Association and is also President of the U.S. Canola Association.

During the Expo, Dr. Venkat Chapara, plant pathologist at the NDSU Langdon Research Center was presented with the Northern Canola Growers Association Excellence Award, an award given to individuals who have significantly contributed to the success of the canola industry, within North Dakota and nationally.  Venkat has been a tireless advocate for researching diseases in canola and has worked very hard on identifying and learning how to manage the clubroot situation in canola.  His knowledge and expertise in the canola industry has been invaluable to producers.
